Updated: Sep 12

How can custom inflatables enhance charity events and contribute to their success? Inflatables offer unique, functional spaces that can support event logistics while helping organizations make a lasting impact.

For one of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s events, we designed a custom inflatable dome tailored to their needs. The dome was used to provide a versatile, practical area for attendees, contributing to the event’s overall flow and experience.

In this blog, we’ll explore the design, creation, and role of the custom inflatable dome used for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s event, demonstrating how it fulfilled both practical needs and helped enhance the event’s effectiveness.

About the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) is a global nonprofit organization dedicated to funding blood cancer research, education, and patient services. Established in 1949, LLS has made significant strides in supporting patients diagnosed with leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease, and myeloma, with the goal of finding a cure for these blood cancers. The organization works not only to advance research in the field but also to offer assistance to patients and families by providing resources such as financial aid, treatment information, and emotional support.

LLS is renowned for its various campaigns and fundraising events, such as Light The Night, Team In Training, and others, which raise awareness and funds for cancer research. The inflatable dome structure created for one of their events served as part of this effort, contributing to the atmosphere and helping the organization engage with the community while promoting its mission to find cures and improve the quality of life for patients battling blood cancers.

Design and Customization Process

Initial Consultation

During the initial discussions with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, we carefully reviewed their specific requirements for the dome to be used at the Light the Night walk campaign. Size and functionality were prioritized, as the structure needed to comfortably accommodate attendees while being practical for an outdoor evening gathering. Branding was also essential, ensuring that the inflatable would clearly reflect the organization’s identity and mission.

Customization

The inflatable dome tent was customized with graphics that highlighted the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s logos, colors, and messaging. These design elements were strategically placed around the structure to ensure maximum visibility and brand recognition during the event. The focus was on maintaining the charity’s recognizable branding, creating a cohesive visual experience that aligned with their mission and the overall theme of the campaign.

Lighting and Atmosphere

A key feature was the integration of LED lights, making it visually striking during the Light the Night walk. The LED lights were carefully positioned to illuminate the dome’s structure, enhancing both its appearance and practicality for nighttime use. This addition helped create a bright, welcoming atmosphere, while also serving as a beacon for participants, guiding them to the gathering space and contributing to the overall energy.

Materials and Construction

For the inflatable dome installation, we chose high-quality vinyl as the primary material to ensure durability and strength throughout the event. Vinyl is a weather-resistant material, making it ideal for outdoor use, as it can withstand various conditions like rain and wind without compromising the structure’s integrity. Its flexibility allows the structure to maintain its shape while being inflated and deflated multiple times, ensuring that it remains reliable and functional for long-term use. The vinyl’s heavy-duty nature also ensures that the dome can endure the wear and tear of high foot traffic and frequent setup and takedown, making it a perfect choice for their events.

Setup and Functionality

One of the key advantages of the inflatable dome shelter was its quick and easy setup, which was crucial for the event’s timeline. It could be inflated and secured in a short amount of time, ensuring that the campaign could proceed without delays. The seamless installation process allowed organizers to focus on other aspects of their event, while the inflatable was quickly ready to use. At the event, it served as a multi-purpose space, functioning as a gathering spot for attendees. The interior was optimized to accommodate the needs of the gathering, providing ample space for participants to mingle, rest, and engage.

Impact on the Event

The portable inflatable dome played a key role in elevating the event experience for attendees at the Light the Night walk. It provided both a functional space and a visually appealing structure that was hard to miss. As the dome stood out during the event, it created a gathering space that was not only practical but also enhanced the overall atmosphere. Whether attendees used it as a shelter or a meeting point, it helped make the event more organized and enjoyable.

The dome attracted significant attention from participants, becoming a hub for interaction and engagement. Its presence encouraged people to gather, interact, and explore, which contributed to the overall participation in the event’s activities. The bright LED lights integrated into the structure made it especially noticeable during the night, further drawing in crowds and adding to the event’s energy.
